If you’ve ever struggled to get a scleral lens in, you know the hardest part isn’t just holding it, it’s getting everything lined up just right. That’s why we built See-Green® with its signature light. But why green? It’s not just because it looks nice! There’s real science behind it.
Your Eyes Naturally See Green Best
Fun fact: your eyes are most sensitive to green light, right around 555 nanometers. That means green is easier to see, sharper, and clearer than most other colors, especially when you’re up close. We designed See-Green to work with your natural vision so focusing and centering the lens feels less like a struggle and more like second nature.

A Built-In “Go” Signal
Green isn’t just easy to see. It’s also a color our brains associate with safety and “go.” Just like a traffic light, the soft green glow helps patients feel reassured, calm, and confident. That small detail can make all the difference for someone who feels anxious about inserting their lenses.
Why We Didn’t Pick Blue or White
When John first started designing See-Green alongside BostonSight, they tested different light colors. Blue and white didn’t make the cut because they’re harder to see up close, and bright blue light has been linked to potential harm with long-term exposure. Green, on the other hand, gives you excellent visibility at a very low brightness (just 1.3 lumens — way dimmer than a household bulb), so it’s both safe and effective.
Precision You Can See
Our patented plunger design takes things one step further. If the lens isn’t perfectly centered, the glow shifts or disappears, giving you instant feedback. It’s like having a built-in alignment guide, helping you avoid painful misalignment, spillage, or those pesky air bubbles.
More Than Just a Glow
For many patients, that light becomes part of their daily routine. They tell us it keeps them steady, focused, and independent. Especially those with low vision, tremors, or dexterity challenges. For them, it’s not just a light. It’s confidence.
At See-Green, we chose green for a reason. It’s the clearest, safest, and most effective way to help patients succeed. For nearly 20 years, that little glow has been helping people see the world more clearly.
