Serving Those Who Served: See-Green's Partnership with the U.S. VA Healthcare System

Since the invention of the See-Green® system in 2007, we’ve worked alongside eye care professionals across the country to improve the lives of scleral lens patients. A few years into that journey, we began supporting clinicians within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system—and it has become one of the most meaningful partnerships we’ve built.

Today, we’re proud to supply VA medical centers across the United States that provide advanced scleral lens care for veterans.

Veteran’s Story

We’re constantly reminded why this work matters through the people we serve.

Patients dealing with corneal disease, trauma, or severe dry eye often rely on these lenses to function day-to-day. But insertion can be one of the biggest barriers to success.

That’s where See-Green® makes a difference.

Our patented, FDA-registered light-guided inserter uses a carefully calibrated green LED—selected because it is the most visible wavelength to the human eye—to create a clear visual target for alignment.

This transforms a frustrating, trial-and-error process into something intuitive, repeatable, and far less stressful.

Paul, a veteran who discovered us through the VA system, shared:

“I am blind in one eye… and 2400 in the other. Regular contacts don’t work for me. I was prescribed a scleral lens, but I could not put it in because my hands shake too much. But with this device I can easily insert it into my eye… Your lens inserter allowed me to get my eyesight back.”

This is exactly why we do what we do. Stories like Paul’s are why clinicians continue to look for better solutions.

“We had the patient in today and worked with your device—success. I have to admit, others were skeptical when I described what I wanted to try, but the outcome spoke for itself. I also appreciate your help with paperwork and the prompt delivery.”Dr. Jim Williamson, OD, FAAO, Memphis VA

Supporting VA Centers Nationwide

We currently support a network of 15+ VA medical centers and specialty clinics across the country that are leaders in scleral lens care.

These centers represent some of the most advanced and specialized scleral lens programs in the VA system, and we are honored to support their work.

Trusted by VA Clinicians

Dr. Emmylou Swartz, OD, FAAO, FSLS, who has worked within the VA system, shared:

“I have been using your products for about 8–10 years… I would say 70% of my scleral lens patients utilize the See-Green stand and light.”

“I use it to train almost all new patients… Dexterity can be an issue from arthritis, tremors, etc., and this device makes lens application so much easier.”

For many VA patients, especially those with tremors, limited dexterity, or low vision, this tool spans from helpful to essential.

Designed for Real-World Challenges

Veterans often face unique physical challenges that make lens insertion difficult:

  • Tremors or neurological conditions

  • Arthritis or limited hand mobility

  • Low vision or monocular vision

  • Difficulty maintaining alignment

The See-Green® system was built specifically for these realities.

  • The hands-free stand stabilizes the lens

  • The green light provides a clear alignment target

  • The system allows use of both hands for eyelid control

Together, these features dramatically improve first-time success rates and reduce patient frustration.

Made in the USA

Every See-Green® system is manufactured and assembled in the United States.

Our products are hand-built, inspected, and sanitized to meet strict FDA requirements for safety, consistency, and quality.

This commitment to domestic manufacturing is something we take seriously, especially when serving those who have served our country.
